Climathon 2020 is cancelled
It is with a heavy heart that we must cancel this year's event as restrictions are in place which prohibit any indoor events with more than 100 people to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
COVID-19 will be another hurdle in the race, but not a hurdle we cannot leap
Although the effect os COVID-19 may be all people are thinking about right now, all of the other challenges we face also remain - inequality, exclusion, climate change, loneliness and more. We see this time as an opportunity to unite on some of those challenges that face Aotearoa and generate some creative and resilient answers to these challenges.
Although we might stand physically apart, we are all still connected.
We are making plans to engage our community and face this challenge together and would love your input as to what ongoing support you would find beneficial.
So far, we are in the early stages of planning a virtual engagement piece for our community and are eager to know what you would like to see:
- Virtual hackathon
- Virtual meet-ups
- Expert videos
- Design thinking workshops
- Working from home tips
- More...?
There are two ways you could get involved:
- Ideas - we would love to hear your ideas for how we can tackle some of the greatest challenges of our time, whilst maintaining the community. What would you like to see? What would get you excited?
- Skills - if you have the skills or experience in running virtual events, please get in touch.
Keep an eye on our Facebook page @climathonnz and subscribe to our Newsletter for updates.
If you have any ideas or skills to assist, please contact Bobby Lloyd at hello@bobby.nz
During this time, please communicate with your community, your team and your friends and family. Remind them they are not alone and that we are all in this together.
Sending a big virtual hug to all of you.
We will make it through.
We go this.
Kia kaha,
Climathon team
